TAG Talk Number 4 The History and Evolution of Bulstrode Park

Radek Chanas talks about the history and evolution of Bulstrode Park.

Radek presents his historical research of the house and gardens at Bulstrode Park:
From the Dutch formal gardens, to Repton’s remodelled landscape, sea shells hidden in the floorboards, and a rusticated bridge from the 1980s, Bulstrode has it all, but what comes next? Radek will share his historical research and design work on Bulstrode Park, Grade II listed house and Grade II* listed park and garden. The house, Gothic Revival style manor, is surrounded by Repton’s landscape with remnants of an earlier Dutch garden largely obscured by the late 19th century and early 20th century arboretum. The design work included conversion and extension of Bulstrode into a 60-bedroom hotel with landscape design focused on integrating the development into the landscape and creating amenity space around the house.

Radek has been working at Pegasus since early 2011 where he’s been involved in various landscape planning work on strategic residential developments, planning appeals, para 79 houses, and renewable energy schemes. Radek specialises in landscape and townscape visual assessment, and design in the context of historic buildings. In addition to Bulstrode Park he has been involved in the design of a replacement dwelling in the open countryside near Chipping Norton, designed in a classical style. He also worked on a planning application for a redevelopment of CEMEX headquarters which included listed Georgian and Victorian buildings, and listed purpose built late 20th century office space design by Ted Cullinan.
