ABOUT
SCHD Ltd are known for high-end residential work, generally in a traditional or Classical idiom. We also specialise in sensitive work to Listed Buildings be it internal alterations or extensions: always working intelligently and in sympathy with the Listed Building. New contextual design in conservation areas and for new developments is also undertaken. Any project will be considered where a historical context is present, or high quality design is sought.
The practice is run by Simon Hurst, trained at the University of Bath, and the Prince of Wales’ Institute of Architecture. He was awarded a travelling scholarship from the Society for Protection of Ancient Buildings in 1998. He was the RIBA nominated trustee of Hampstead Garden Suburb from 2003 to 2015 and the Honorary Architect to the Art Workers’ Guild from 2011 to 2023.
