Chitcombe House, a new-build in Dorset
Founded in 1996, Stuart Martin Architects is based near Evershot in Dorset. We specialise in one-off traditional houses, repairing and extending listed buildings, and creating new buildings in rural and urban contexts. In the context of the ongoing environmental crises we feel strongly that architecture should be part of the solution, rather contribute to the problem. The use of sustainably-sourced natural materials, which are inherently low in embodied energy and intrinsically ecological, is a priority for us. The result is a healthier, more durable building that will contribute to well-being and beauty for many years. Our approach is founded on architectural sensibility and the appropriate use of style and idiom. Schemes are welcomed of any scale and Stuart is personally involved throughout the process, from inception to completion, placing equal importance on good design, communication with craftspeople and client satisfaction.
