ABOUT

Howard Vie has an artistic approach to architectural illustration. Although his drawings are accurate perspectives he hopes they have an added liveliness and individual quality. He enjoys working with traditional architectural subjects because they provide a wealth of interest and detail.

Howard has a technical knowledge of buildings as well as an interest in their design and appearance. He has a postgraduate diploma in Historic Building Conservation from Bath University. He studied art for a number of years with the renowned teacher and artist Cecil Collins RA. He produced over 200 illustrations for the Conservation Area Studies of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Latterly he worked as an assistant in Julian Bicknell’s office in Richmond where he produced the bulk of Julian’s presentation perspectives over a period of ten years. These presented the projects with impact and were well received by clients.

Drawings are set up with an optical perspective framework either by hand or using software. This framework is drawn into with pen and ink and then watercoloured. He enjoys experimenting with different techniques so is open to client requirements. Some “post processing” is done with software such as photoshop but all images are hand drawn and painted in the beginning.

Contact details are on his website www.hvie.co.uk.
