Proposal for a Classical winery building, near Crondall, Hampshire - Winner of the Traditional Architecture Group's Best Student Project Award 2021
Lewis read (undergraduate) Architecture at Arts University Bournemouth, where he was taught by Professor Sir Peter Cook, co-founder of Archigram. It was while studying for his degree that he grasped the extent to which architectural traditionalism is generally under-taught and under-valued by universities in Great Britain. This fuelled an interest in Classical architecture and traditional modes of construction, which was explored and expanded upon studying for his Masters under Classicists, Timothy Smith and Jonathan Taylor, at Kingston University.
Projects completed while at Kingston were submitted for TAG's Best Student Project Award. Lewis achieved third-place in 2020, with a design for a Classical office building in central Glasgow, and won the Award in 2021, with a scheme for a winery in rural Hampshire.
He has worked for Russell Taylor Architects and ADAM Architecture, before gaining employment at Stephen Langer Architects - a traditional practice, specialising in Kent / Sussex vernacular styles.
