The Robert Adam Rome Scholarship in Architecture Enters its Second Year
‘After a very good response last year, Jakub Ryng was chosen and he will be going to Rome in January to study “The Rough and the Smooth”, the use of rustication in architecture. We have high hopes for his work and look forward to seeing it.
The scholarship is for the study of the tradition and evolution of classical architecture in Rome and Italy. This can include associated urban studies. Scholars will record their studies which should be directed to informing current architectural practice.
The scholar will be part of the remarkable and stimulating community of scholars in the fine arts, history and archaeology resident at the British School at Rome. This includes other architecture scholars: the Rome Scholar in Architecture and the Giles Worsley Fellow in architectural history. Returning scholars acknowledge, not just the great experience of Rome and Italy, but also the community with which they often develop friendships for life.
The trustees are very keen to hear from new applicants. They have to be UK or Commonwealth nationals or UK settled residents. Applications must be made by December 2nd.
The scholarship will include full board at the British School and a monthly allowance. For more information and application details go to: https://bsr.ac.uk/awards-residencies-architecture/
