Brentwood Cathedral by Quinlan Terry Listed Grade II*
In a recent release of new listings by Historic England, we were pleased to see one by TAG Member Quinlan Terry.
You can view the listing description here.
Quinlan stated in response:
“We were very pleased to learn that Brentwood Cathedral was Listed Grade II* last month, and the first building by the office to be Listed.
This marks a dramatic change in attitude to new traditional buildings (the Cathedral scheme was refused planning permission and only got through on appeal largely thanks to the determination of Bishop Thomas).
Traditional and Classical architecture (never out of fashion with the general public) is being practised more and more by serious, scholarly architects, and it is hoped that more work of this kind will be recognised and protected by the state.”
