Planning Consent Granted for New House in Scotland

compressed painting.jpg

Planning Consent has just been granted for this substantial new house designed by Tom Robinson of Thomas Robinson Architects on a site in East Renfrewshire in Scotland. The house replaces a smaller modern 1930s house on the site and exploits a fine mature landscape and loch-side setting.

The design submission challenged local planning policy which is intended restrict the size of “replacement dwellings” by producing a landscape impact assessment of the development, and by demonstrating that the new house would in fact enhance the wider landscape. Inspiration for the design was drawn from the work of notable Scottish Architects including Sir Robert Lorimer, James McLaren and David Bryce among others with the intention of producing a house that would be appropriate and fitting for a fine Scottish countryside setting.
